I’m convinced San Antonio is one of the most underrated cities in the United States. It’s chill, bikeable, has interesting public spaces, good art, great food, and fun places to go with kids. The last two years we’ve passed through San Antonio on our way to other places for Spring Break, but this year we decided it was tradition.

Botanical Gardens
The San Antonio Botanical Gardens are really nice and one of our favorite places to visit with the kids, especially in Spring. Ada spent nearly an hour constructing her stick fort. The orchid room is incredible. The architecture of the arboretums is really well done.

The Pearl
The Pearl is such a vibrant place to visit. They’ve done a really nice job redeveloping it. The new attraction this year was Pullman Market, a bougie market that was fun to walk through- we ended up getting lunch there twice! Tacos were really good. We also got an entire lemon merengue pie for $20!
Biking
We like to bike and San Antonio has a terrific paved bike path along the river. Laine and I rented city bikes from Bcycle rather than figure out how to haul them in the car, but we did bring the kid’s bikes which fit fine in the trunk.
Our first evening of biking was great, but taking them out to one of the Missions was kind of a bust as they weren’t in a super adventure mood. We’ll try again next year!

Best Quality Daughter
Best Quality Daughter is our favorite restaurant in San Antonio. Good quality Asian food and then kids also love it! We usually get the Creamy Coconut Tom Yum Noodles and Cashew Chicken + whatever else looks good (it’s all good).
